About this blog

I'm one of a handful of people who have continuously run the same web site for 15 years. How many of us can there be? Back when I launched KidPub.com in 1994/95 there were only 10,000 or so sites in existence, and most of them have dried up and blown away in the fickle wind of consumer trends. That gives me a lot of perspective on what works, what doesn't, and what should but doesn't quite when it comes to the web.

What's really interesting is that, because my web site caters to kids, I've now seen a generation of children pass through my site. The kids who were 14 when they signed up back in 1995 are now pushing 30, and there's a new crop of tech-savvy children who've taken their place. Every year is different at KidPub, and I've had to adapt and grow along with my audience.

There are two voices in this blog. One is the publisher of stories, poems, reviews, and other creative work written by children over the past 15 years. The other is a website owner who has weathered 15 years of change in the Internet. I think that both voices might have useful information to apss along, and that is the purpose of this blog.
